All-On 4 Implants Vs. Dental Implants

When it comes to taking care of your oral health, there are a few things everyone knows: you should visit your dentist for regular cleanings, and you should brush and floss at least twice a day. There are, however, dental procedures and surgeries that most people aren’t quite as familiar with. As two of our most popular procedures, this article will discuss the difference between All-On 4 Implants and dental implants. Read on to learn more about the unique difference.

All-On 4 Implants

This type of implant gets its name because it works when a dental bridge or dentures are attached to four implants on the upper or lower portion of the mouth. By inserting dental implants and then fixating a dental bridge onto them, patients receive a more aesthetically pleasing smile than with traditional dentures. Because All-On 4 implants don’t cover the entire roof of your mouth like regular dentures, they are popular amongst our patients because they give you a greater ability to talk, chew, and live an overall more comfortable life.

Dental Implants

As previously mentioned, All-On 4 Implants use dental implants as part of the process. Dental implants in and of themselves, however, are a bit different. If you have a few missing teeth and are looking for a nearly permanent solution, then dental implants may be the perfect solution for you. After being x-rayed and determining you have a strong enough jawbone, Dr. Janice Scott will surgically implant a metal rod into your jawbone— this rod will act as your tooth’s root. After your gums have healed for about four months, a dental crown will be placed on top of it— giving you the ability to chew and speak like normal.
